SPORTSMANSHIP FROM A to Z!


Accept and abide by the decisions of the contest officials.
Be a good host to opponents and treat them as guests.
Cooperate with the coaches, players & cheerleaders in trying to promote sportsmanship.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Encourage players to play hard and fair.
Follow the rules of the contest at all times.
Good sportsmanship is the ?Golden Rule? in action.
Hold team meeting to review the importance of sportsmanship expectations.
Intervene when inappropriate language or behavior is observed.
Judgment calls are a part of the game and are not reasons for inappropriate behavior.
Know, understand and appreciate the rules of the contest.
Lose without excuses, win without boasting.
Model language and behavior that is non-biased or hurtful.
Never criticize players, coaches or officials for the loss of a game.
Opposing coaches, participants, cheerleaders and fans must be respected at all times.
Provide opportunity to display sportsmanship at every game and contest.
Questioning an official?s call or making a negative comment is unacceptable.
Recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding play regardless of the team.
Shake hands with opponents prior to and after the contest.
Teach sportsmanship and demand that all players be good sports.
Use your imagination when incorporating sportsmanship into your behavior.
Victory celebrations should be conducted in a respectful and positive manner.
Work cooperatively with officials and other contest personal for an efficient contest.
eXercise self control and good judgment and be an example for all spectators and fans.
Yelling, boasting or heckling an official or player is unacceptable.
Zero in on sportsmanship as a priority.
